Karnataka Class 8, 9 & 10 all subjects sample 5 E’s Lesson Plans released

In a significant initiative aimed at enriching classroom teaching and enhancing student understanding Model 5E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) lesson plans for teachers teaching Class 8, 9, and 10 has been released. These comprehensive lesson plans, developed by subject experts, cover all core subjects—Kannada, Urdu, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science—for both Kannada and English medium students.

The 5E instructional model is a widely respected teaching approach that encourages active learning through five progressive stages: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. By integrating this model into everyday teaching, with an aim to promote conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and student engagement.

These sample lesson plans serve as practical guides for teachers, enabling them to deliver curriculum-aligned, student-centered lessons in a structured and interactive manner. The plans provide activities and strategies for each stage of the 5E model, allowing learners to connect with real-life contexts, investigate new ideas, and build deep understanding before being assessed.

Subject-wise experts across Karnataka contributed to developing these lesson plans, ensuring relevance, clarity, and adherence to the NCERT-based Karnataka state syllabus. For example, Science lessons focus on hands-on experiments and inquiry-based learning, while Social Science lessons encourage debate, discussion, and real-world application. Language subjects include vocabulary development, storytelling, grammar games, and creative writing activities that align with the 5E steps.

This initiative also supports the NIPUN Bharat and FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) goals, strengthening foundational learning through innovative pedagogy. Teachers, particularly in rural and government schools, are expected to benefit from these ready-to-use resources, thereby improving the teaching-learning process and student outcomes.

All sample lesson plans have been made accessible. This move marks a progressive shift in Karnataka’s education system, blending structured planning with innovative pedagogy to create more meaningful, participatory, and enjoyable learning experiences for students of Classes 8, 9, and 10 across both Kannada and English mediums
