The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has officially released the schedule for the OPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 Preliminary Exam. According to the latest notification published on the commission’s website, the OPSC CSE Prelims 2024 will be conducted on October 12, 2025 (Sunday). This recruitment aims to fill 265 civil service posts across various government departments in Odisha.
In its announcement, the commission stated:
“In continuation of this Office Notice No. 3207/PSC, dated 15.05.2025, it is for the information of all concerned that the Commission has decided to conduct the Odisha Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2024, pursuant to Advt. No. 07 of 2024-25 on 12.10.2025 (Sunday). The detailed programme of the said examination shall be notified later. The candidates are advised to visit the website of the Commission at opsc.gov.in for further information.”
OPSC CSE 2024 Selection Process
The OPSC Civil Services recruitment process will be conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – The first stage is a screening test consisting of two compulsory papers.
- Main Examination (Written) – Shortlisted candidates from prelims will appear for descriptive written tests.
- Interview/Personality Test – Candidates clearing the written mains will be called for the final interview round.
The final merit list will be prepared based on candidates’ performance in the mains examination and the interview.
OPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024
The OPSC CSE Preliminary Exam will consist of two objective-type papers, each carrying 200 marks:
- Paper I – General Studies
- Paper II – Aptitude Test
Both papers will have negative marking. For each incorrect answer, 0.33 marks (one-third) of the assigned marks will be deducted. Some questions will also follow a differential marking system, awarding partial credit depending on the accuracy of the chosen answer.
OPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024
- Educational Qualification – Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Age Limit – Applicants should be between 21 and 38 years as of January 1, 2024. This means candidates must not have been born before January 2, 1986, or after January 1, 2003.
