Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), one of India’s premier central universities, has announced the launch of three new academic programmes for the 2025–26 session. The university has rolled out BA (Hons) in German Studies, BA (Hons) in Japanese Studies, and an Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling. Admissions for these courses are currently open, and interested candidates can apply online through the official Jamia website until September 6, 2025. The entrance test for all three programmes will be conducted on September 14, 2025.
Undergraduate Courses in German and Japanese Studies
Jamia Millia Islamia has introduced BA (Hons) in German Studies and BA (Hons) in Japanese Studies under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) framework. These courses are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes multidisciplinary learning and global exposure.
According to the university, the programmes go beyond traditional language learning. They integrate language proficiency, cultural studies, translation and interpretation, and industry-focused training. Students enrolled in these courses will not only develop fluency in German or Japanese but also gain insights into the socio-cultural, economic, and political contexts of the respective countries.
The university further highlighted that these courses will equip students with skills for international careers, including opportunities in global organisations, cultural exchange programmes, education, research, and translation services. With growing international collaborations and India’s expanding ties with countries like Germany and Japan, graduates from these programmes will have an edge in the global job market.
Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling
Alongside the undergraduate courses, Jamia has also launched an Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling, accredited by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). This specialised programme aims to address the increasing demand for certified counsellors in the field of child psychology and mental health.
Students completing the diploma will be recognised as RCI-approved counsellors, enabling them to work in schools, hospitals, healthcare centres, government institutions, and non-governmental organisations. With rising awareness around mental health, child well-being, and inclusive education, this diploma provides graduates with the qualifications to make a meaningful impact both in India and abroad.
