For thousands of candidates preparing for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and other UPSC-conducted tests, this initiative provides a platform to clarify doubts, share feedback, and understand the Commission’s vision for the future of recruitment in public services.
UPSC Centenary Year Celebrations
The event also coincides with the UPSC centenary year celebrations. Established on October 1, 1926, under the Government of India Act, 1919, and based on the Lee Commission recommendations, UPSC began its journey as the Public Service Commission.
- In 1937, it was renamed the Federal Public Service Commission.
- With the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950, it became the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
From October 1, 2025, to October 1, 2026, UPSC will commemorate 100 years of service through year-long celebrations. As part of this milestone, the Commission is also launching a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to act as a central repository of best practices for UPSC and State Public Service Commissions (PSCs).
The UPSC Chairman’s first-ever Virtual Town Hall 2025 marks a significant step towards greater engagement, transparency, and inclusivity in India’s premier examination system. By directly interacting with aspirants through emails, social media, and live discussions, the Commission is creating a student-friendly platform at a landmark moment in its history.
