RRB Releases Tentative CBT Schedule for Ministerial & Isolated Category Posts

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially released the tentative computer-based test (CBT) schedule for the Ministerial and Isolated category recruitment. According to the notice published on the regional RRBs’ official websites, the examination will be conducted from September 10 to September 12, 2025. This announcement provides aspiring candidates with sufficient time to prepare and familiarize themselves with the exam format and related processes.

The CBT will be of objective multiple-choice type and conducted in a single stage. The duration of the test will be 90 minutes for most candidates, while Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) availing the Scribe facility will be given 120 minutes. A total of 100 questions will be asked, carrying a weightage of one mark each, making the maximum possible score 100 marks. However, candidates must note that there will be negative marking, with 1/3 of a mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

The RRB has stated that the exam city link will be activated 10 days prior to the examination date. This will allow candidates to know their allotted city of examination in advance. Additionally, e-call letters will be made available for download four days prior to the exam date mentioned in the city and date intimation link. Candidates are advised to keep a close watch on the respective RRB websites for updates and timely access to these essential documents.

The selection process will involve multiple stages. First, candidates will undergo the Single Stage CBT, followed by Performance Test/Teaching Skill Test and/or Translation Test, depending on the specific post requirements. Finally, candidates who qualify in the earlier rounds will have to undergo Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination to ensure fitness for the role.

Shortlisting for subsequent stages will primarily be based on marks obtained in the CBT along with the applicable skill or translation tests. However, in certain cases, the CBT may be conducted in multiple sessions to accommodate all candidates. If this occurs, the RRB will implement a normalization process to ensure fairness in scoring, considering the possible differences in question paper difficulty levels. Shortlisting for the DV stage in such cases will be done based on the normalized marks rather than the raw scores.

The Ministerial and Isolated category posts in Indian Railways cover a range of administrative and specialized functions, and competition is expected to be high. Candidates are therefore encouraged to begin focused preparation well in advance, keeping in mind the marking scheme and the negative marking policy.

For complete details, including post-specific requirements, syllabus, and exam guidelines, candidates should regularly visit the official websites of the respective regional RRBs. Staying updated will be crucial to avoid missing any important deadlines or instructions.
