Ministry of Women and Child Development Announces New Helpline Number for POSHAN and PMMVY

Ministry of Women and Child Development Announces New Helpline Number for POSHAN and PMMVY

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has officially announced a new toll-free helpline number — 1515 — for POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). The new number will become operational from 1st November 2025, replacing the existing helpline 14408.

This initiative aims to make the helpline easier to remember and more accessible for citizens across the country. The new helpline number 1515 is designed to streamline support services, ensuring faster response times and better communication for beneficiaries of these flagship welfare schemes.

Simplified Access for POSHAN and PMMVY Beneficiaries

The Ministry has emphasized that the transition to 1515 will enhance user convenience by offering a shorter, more memorable number for nationwide access. Both POSHAN and PMMVY play a crucial role in promoting nutrition, maternal health, and child welfare, reaching millions of women and children across India.

During the transition period, as integration and technical alignment are completed, callers may experience brief service interruptions. In such cases, beneficiaries are advised to continue using the existing number 14408 until the new number becomes fully functional.

Helpline 1515: A Single Window for Support and Information

The POSHAN and PMMVY Helpline 1515 will continue to act as a single point of contact for all queries, feedback, and support services related to:

  • Nutritional information and counselling for women and children
  • Eligibility and application guidance for PMMVY benefits
  • Scheme-related updates, grievance redressal, and tracking of requests
  • Awareness campaigns and outreach activities under the POSHAN Abhiyaan

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring smooth communication, transparency, and efficiency in delivering benefits to all eligible women and children, especially those in rural and underserved regions.

Strengthening Service Delivery through Technology

The decision to shift to helpline 1515 reflects the government’s focus on improving digital and telecommunication accessibility in public welfare programs. The new number will integrate with modern customer service technologies, enabling real-time tracking, data-driven monitoring, and multilingual support to cater to India’s diverse population.

By upgrading the helpline infrastructure, the Ministry of Women and Child Development aims to bridge service gaps and make it easier for beneficiaries to get timely assistance related to nutrition and maternity schemes.

Government’s Commitment to Women and Child Welfare

Both POSHAN Abhiyaan and PMMVY are cornerstone initiatives of the Government of India aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes. While POSHAN focuses on eradicating malnutrition through awareness and behavioral change, PMMVY provides financial incentives to pregnant and lactating mothers to support proper nutrition and reduce maternal mortality rates.

The launch of helpline 1515 reinforces the Ministry’s vision of accessible, inclusive, and responsive governance that prioritizes the welfare of women and children across India
