The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has officially postponed the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026). According to the revised notification, the GATE 2026 registration begin on August 28, 2025 at the official website.
With the new GATE 2026 revised schedule, candidates can complete the application process until 6th October 2025 without a late fee. However, those who miss the regular deadline can still apply until October 9, 2025 by paying a late fee. The highly competitive exam will be held in February 2026, and results will be declared in March 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2026
To apply for GATE 2026, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Candidates must be in the third year or higher of their undergraduate degree or must have already completed their degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognized institute.
- The qualifying degree should be approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to BE/BTech/BArch/BPlanning programs.
- Students who have obtained or are pursuing equivalent qualifications from foreign universities are also eligible to apply.
GATE 2026 Application Fees
The GATE 2026 application fee varies based on candidate category and registration period:
- Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates:
- ₹1,000 per paper (regular period)
- ₹1,500 per paper (extended period)
- All other candidates:
- ₹2,000 per paper (regular period)
- ₹2,500 per paper (extended period)
