CBSE Announces Major Changes for LOC Submission for Class 10 & 12 Board Exams 2026

CBSE Announces Major Changes for LOC Submission for Class 10 & 12 Board Exams 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced significant updates regarding the List of Candidates (LOC) submission process for the Class 10 and 12 board exams 2026. Principals of all CBSE-affiliated schools have been urged to fill the LOC with utmost care, as the board will not allow any corrections after submission. This step emphasizes the importance of accuracy and ensures smooth conduct of the board examinations.

APAAR ID Mandatory for LOC Submission

In a major change, CBSE has made the APAAR ID mandatory for registering students in the LOC. Schools will only be able to submit the LOC for candidates who have obtained their APAAR IDs. The board stated that this initiative will improve data accuracy and prevent duplication of student records.

“CBSE has decided to link the APAAR ID of candidates for both Class 10 and 12 LOC data. Schools in India can fill the LOC only for candidates with valid APAAR IDs. The IDs will be validated at the time of LOC submission,” the official notification mentioned. Schools located abroad are exempted from this requirement due to administrative and legal reasons.

Board Exam Dates for 2026

CBSE had earlier announced that Class 10 board exams will be conducted twice, while Class 12 board exams will be held once. The first phase of the Class 10 exams is scheduled from 17th February to 6th March 2026, and the second phase will be conducted from 5th May to 20th May 2026. For Class 12, exams will be held only once in the first phase.

According to CBSE data, approximately 20.26 lakh students are expected to appear for the Class 10 board exams 2026, while around 20 lakh students are anticipated for the Class 12 board exams 2026.

Details to be Included in LOC

The LOC must contain all relevant details of the students appearing for the exams, including:

  • Candidate’s full name
  • Father’s, mother’s, and guardian’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Subject code and combination

CBSE clarified that only students whose names are submitted through the online LOC process will be allowed to appear for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. Schools must complete the registration process before proceeding with online LOC submission.

Importance of Accurate LOC Submission

CBSE emphasized that any errors in the LOC could lead to students being barred from appearing in the board exams. Hence, careful verification of student information is crucial. Linking the APAAR ID will also help in tracking student records across years, ensuring integrity in data management.

The CBSE LOC 2026 submission process marks a critical step in organizing the upcoming Class 10 and 12 board exams. With the introduction of the APAAR ID requirement, linking student information, and strict no-correction rules, the board aims to ensure smooth, transparent, and accurate examination management. Principals and school administrators are advised to follow all guidelines carefully and submit LOCs within the prescribed timelines to avoid any discrepancies, for more details CLICK HERE
