The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Sonepat, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has invited applications for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program for the academic year 2025–26 (Odd Semester). The institute is currently offering undergraduate and doctoral programs in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), and allied disciplines. With a continued focus on research and innovation, IIIT Sonepat is poised to soon shift to its newly developed 50-acre permanent campus located at Kiloraad village, Sonepat.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
For applicants in the disciplines of CSE, IT, and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), eligibility requires an M.Tech/M.E./MCA+M.Tech or equivalent in relevant fields with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD) or a CGPA of 6.75 (6.0 for SC/ST/PwD). A valid GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR, INSPIRE, or equivalent score is desirable. Industry-sponsored candidates must have between 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, depending on their academic background.
Candidates applying for Ph.D. in Mathematics or Humanities (including English) should hold an M.Sc. or M.A. degree in a relevant discipline, meeting the same minimum percentage or CGPA requirements. A valid national-level fellowship score is similarly desirable, and such candidates from industry must have at least four years of relevant experience.
SELECTION PROCESS
Admission will be based on a written test and/or interview conducted by the respective departments. The written test will follow the latest GATE syllabus for CSE, IT, ECE, and Mathematics. Final selection may also consider the applicant’s Statement of Purpose (SOP), alignment with departmental research areas, and faculty expertise.
APPLICATION PROCESS AND FEES
The application fee is ₹1000 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and ₹500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The last date to submit the hard copy of the application form is 30 June 2025.
