The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially released a comprehensive dress code policy for candidates appearing in various competitive, entrance, and recruitment examinations conducted by the authority. DRESS CODE FOR MALE CANDIDATES
Male aspirants are instructed to adhere to a conservative and minimalistic dress code. Only half-sleeved shirts are allowed, and full-sleeved shirts are strictly prohibited. Candidates are encouraged to wear collarless shirts wherever possible. Trousers with no or minimal pockets are preferred, while jeans and kurta-pyjamas are not permitted.
The attire should be lightweight and simple, avoiding any elaborate embroidery, large buttons, zippered or multiple pockets. Additionally, shoes are banned inside the exam hall; candidates must wear sandals or flat-soled slippers.
For security reasons, male candidates are not allowed to wear any metal jewelry, including earrings, rings, bracelets, or chains.

Female candidates must also follow a strict set of rules. Clothes with elaborate embroidery, brooches, large buttons, or floral designs are prohibited. Like their male counterparts, they must wear half-sleeved clothes, while full-sleeved garments and jeans are not allowed.
Footwear is to be kept simple and functional—thin-soled slippers or sandals are mandatory. Shoes and high-heeled footwear are not permitted.
Female candidates are also prohibited from wearing any form of metal jewelry, with exceptions made only for Mangalsutra and Toe rings, acknowledging certain traditional practices.
