“Laugh!” It’s just 5 letters, but holds bunch of items in it. Laugh is home for happiness, health and even it creates strong bonding between the one who shares it unconditionally. For all the diseases there is medicine likewise for all the problem and pain there is best medicine, simply call it as “Laugh”.

Great comic Charlie Chaplin once said “A day without laughter is day wasted”, well said.

A best exercise we can do every day for long life and healthy life that too with zero cost is laughing heart-fully at least 30 minutes per day.

By looking all these benefits, world laughter day was first celebrated on 1998 by a Mumbai based doctor named, Madan Kataria. He also started worldwide laughter yoga movement. Every year on the first Sunday of May, world laughter day is celebrated around the world.

The main intention behind the laughter yoga movement is to boost the good health across world and also to build global friendship and brotherhood through laughter.

HISTORY & SIGNIFICANCE

World Laughter Day was initially celebrated on January 10th 1998 by Dr. Madan Kataria who is also starter of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement. Dr. Kataria allopathic physician in Mumbai, India.

He was inspired to start the Laughter Yoga movement in part by the facial feedback hypothesis, which postulates that a person’s facial expressions can have a direct effect on their feelings.

The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive manifestation to create world peace and is intended to build up a global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship just by laugh.

It is most often celebrated by gatherings of people in public places with the sole purpose of laughing. Its popularity has grown exponentially with that of the Laughter Yoga movement now counting thousands of Laughter Clubs in more than 105 countries. And now it is celebrated worldwide.

Today almost everyone heard the word “Pandemic”, because of the COVID-19. But have you ever heard that “HAPPY-DEMIC”? It was the first World Laughter Day gathering outside India.

It took place at Town Hall Square in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2000, more than 10,000 people were gathered. The gathering was very huge and people gathered over there laughed and bonded themselves in such a way that the event went into the Guinness Book of World records.

BENEFITS OF LAUGH

Laugh relaxes the whole body: A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed up to 45 minutes.

Laugh amplifies the immune system: Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and also infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.

Laugh triggers the release of endorphins:  Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.

Laugh protects your heart: Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, in turn it helps protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.

Laugh burns calories: Okay, so there is no replacement for going to the gym, but one study found that laughing for 10 to 15 minutes a day can burn approximately 40 calories.Which could be enough to lose three to four pounds over the course of a year. Strange right!

Laughter lightens anger’s heavy load: Nothing diffuses anger and conflict faster than a shared laugh. Looking at the funny side can put problems into perspective and enable you to move on from confrontations without holding onto bitterness or resentment.

Laughter may even help you to live longer. A study in Norway found that people with a strong sense of humor outlived those who don’t laugh as much. The difference was particularly notable for those battling cancer.

Most of the times laugh makes mind free also it is stress buster. In this busy life it seems very difficult to give time for morning exercise and jogging. But there is way for every problem. Instead of spending lot of time in gym for good health just spend half an hour time with your loved ones and laugh with them full heartedly.

For sure you will get positive effect in your life and no doubt your relation bonding becomes like covalent bond which is strongest bond among all other bonds. Don’t confuse about these bonds, they are bonds come in chemistry. Yes this laugh makes your chemistry strong too.

There are many Laughter clubs to make you laugh. But if you have good sense of humor then you don’t need any clubs to make you laugh. Knowing all these benefits of laugh, just laugh heart fully. Also make others laugh who are around you that makes you center of attraction.
