Union Ministry Launches ‘Skill for AI Readiness’ Course for Students of Classes 6 to 12

In a significant move to empower the next generation with emerging technologies, the Union Ministry of Skill Development has launched the Skill for AI Readiness Course aimed at students from Class 6 to 12. This initiative is designed to introduce school children to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and equip them with foundational skills to thrive in the digital future.

The course is a part of the Skill India Mission and aligns with the broader national goal of promoting technology-driven education. Developed by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), the course includes three student modules and one teacher module, making it accessible and educational for both learners and educators.

This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with industry giants such as Microsoft, NASSCOM, and HCL, ensuring global-standard training and resources. The course targets both urban and rural students, with a special focus on inclusivity and equal access to AI literacy across India.

The teacher module is designed to improve educators’ AI knowledge and teaching methodologies, while student modules introduce basic concepts like data analysis, machine learning, and programming. The Ministry of Education emphasizes that early exposure to AI will help children embrace it as an opportunity rather than fear it as a disruptive force.

The course was officially launched by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, during a Skill India Mission event — BharatSkillNext 2025. He reiterated that the objective is to make India’s youth AI-ready and globally competitive.

HOW TO ENROLL

To register, students must visit the Skill India Digital Hub portal and provide their Apaar ID, which links their academic data. Once registered, students can access the online modules and participate in interactive learning sessions. Upon completion, an online assessment is conducted.

This course is a visionary step toward creating a tech-savvy generation, capable of adapting to and leading the AI-driven workforce of the future. It not only enhances technical knowledge but also builds critical 21st-century skills essential across all professional domains.
