Because engineering means not only about engineering, it relates to many other subjects like Physics, Chemistry, problem solving, English and even Regional languages. To make world healthy we need doctors, to make country economically stable we need economist. But to develop country in all the ways we need engineers.
Many great personalities who are making big buzz in nowadays were come from engineering background. For example, the great comedian of all time Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), who made whole world laugh without even talking single word was Electrical engineer. Anil Kumble, Harsha Bhogle, Chetan Bhagat, Sonu Sood, Sushant Singh Rajput and many more engineers adds to this list.
To show gratitude for all the engineers across the country,Engineer’s day is celebrated in India on 15th September, in memory of Sir Mokshgundam Visweswarayya.

ABOUT
Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya more commonly known as Sir M V Visvesvaraya was born in a Telugu Brahmin family, and his parents were Mokshagundam Srinivasa and Venkatalakshamma, he hail from the Mokshagundam village in present Andhra Pradesh, was an Indian Civil Engineer , Sir M V persued his Civil Engineering degree from one of the Best Engineering College at that time and 3rd Oldest college in Asia College of Engineering, Pune and e served as the 19th Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1919.
In the year 1955 he was honoured with India’s highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, For his contributions to the public good Sir M V was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V , To commemorate his service to common public His birthday, 15 th September, is celebrated as Engineers’ Day in India Every year and also in Sri Lanka and Tanzania in his memory celebrate Engineers day,
He was the Chief Engineer of Krishna Raja Sagara dam in the north west suburb of Mysuru city, and he also served as one of the Chief Engineers of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad,
To render tribute to him Viswesvarayya National Memorial Trust manages a memorial for Visvesvaraya at his birthplace Muddenahalli. This memorial exhibits his awards, titles and personal belongings, including his living room, spectacles, cups, books and block with which his visiting cards were printed.
The Models of Krishna Raja Sagar dam, which Visvesvaraya designed and supervised the construction of, are also been exhibited. The memorial is located adjacent to his house, which was refurbished and regarded as a temple by locals of his birth place.
Sir M.V was the foremost distinguished technologist civil engineer in India in 20th Century. He designed the Asia’s best dam on Kaveri river. The dams designed by him are still practical even these days, this is an affidavit to his brilliance, skill, honesty and dedication. therefore fifteenth of September, Engineer’s Day 2018, is kind of an interesting tribute to the best Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvarayya.
He was a statesman and a scholar. His contribution to India’s economy can’t be compared to anything and respect for them all over the world is unequaled and limitless. He was also knighted by British Queen.
SIGNIFICANCE
Celebrating Engineer’s day is not just to brood over our past greats. it’s celebrated more for accenting the importance of role of engineers in building India’s future. India is a developing nation. And, for development we want infrastructure, we want power, we need new inventions and innovations. We need modern technology in all fields.
After him, reaching his admirable destiny; through his kind heart and intellectual brain in all directions; so he could finally sleep in peace on 14th April 1962. We miss him ever and never such a person in the world is seen.
We should travel to 21st century with many upcoming technologies like telecom gadgets, renewable fuels, updated machines, digital and information technology. All of these requires a lot of expert and capable engineers. Our nation expects to have tens of millions of workforce in the next five years.
In the last three decades India progressed and earned fame in the world with its smart and intelligent engineers spread all over the world. Engineer will conceives, designs, implements, checks and installs it. Engineer’s work proceeds in a planned and discipline way. An engineer builds tools to make future work easier and reach higher levels of maturity and capability.
Engineers day is dedicated to those expert engineers, without them every machine would not have been made. A day dedicated to those without them no one would have been able to fly, no one would have been able to make their home, no one would have been able to watch television and no one would have been able to communicate with the long distance.
So from mobile phone to airplane, television to satellite, everything is possible because of engineers. Every day a new technology to take human to the next level to give them from basic desires to their basic need. We are engineers.
Today, India produces the utmost range of engineers in the world who have done wonders in the field of technology and have compete a significant in the development and growth of nation. In fact, several of them are working all over the world in various disciplines and leaving their footprints wherever they go. Leading multi-national companies have set up their research and developments departments in India to make the most of this talent-pool.
Whether we talk of new age cars, Nano technology or renewable energy for the future, everything requires vision and engineers of the future will be doing much more than they are doing today. It is therefore important that the future engineers concentrate on their communication skills, problem solving aptitude and willingness to learn new things in order to be better prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
