FTII Pune MFA & PG Certificate Courses admissions 2025 Applications Open

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, one of the most prestigious film and media institutions in the country, has officially announced admissions for its Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Post Graduate Certificate courses for the academic year 2025. Established in 1960 under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, FTII holds the distinction of being a “Deemed to be University” under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Over the years, FTII has become a beacon of excellence in film and television education, nurturing generations of industry-leading professionals.

FTII offers specialized academic programs through its two main wings — the Film Wing and the Television Wing. The Film Wing provides two-year MFA courses in Cinema, divided into four semesters, while the Television Wing offers AICTE-approved Post Graduate Certificate courses in various television disciplines.

For the 2025 admission cycle, entry to these courses is through the FTII Entrance Test (FTII-ET-2024-25), which is conducted in two rigorous stages.

Stage 1 is a Computer-Based Written Test, consisting of:

  • Paper I (Objective): 30 MCQs for 60 marks (+2 for correct answers, -0.5 for wrong).
  • Paper II (Subjective): Descriptive questions worth 40 marks.
  • The total duration of the test is 2 hours, and the combined score is 100 marks.

Stage 2 involves a Mixed Format Assessment conducted at the FTII Pune campus, which includes practical tasks, analytical exercises, performance assessments, and personal interactions. This stage holds 70% weightage in the final merit list, while Stage 1 contributes 30%.

The written test will be held across 26 cities in India on 27th July 2025, with candidates allowed to choose up to three preferred centers. The last date to apply is 11th July 2025, and admit cards will be available from 20th July 2025. The academic session is scheduled to commence in the third week of November 2025.
