National Scholarship For Post Graduate Studies 2025 – 26 Applications Open

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially opened applications for the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies 2025–26, offering a significant opportunity for meritorious students pursuing postgraduate degrees in India. Under this scheme, 10,000 scholarships will be awarded to eligible students, each valued at ₹15,000 per month for 10 months annually for a duration of two years.

OBJECTIVE AND ELIGIBILITY

The scholarship aims to support students in completing their first postgraduate degree through regular, full-time programs at recognized institutions. It is open to those who have completed their undergraduate degree from institutions recognized under Sections 2(f) or 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Applicants must be below 30 years of age as of the date of PG admission and must not be enrolled in distance, correspondence, or part-time courses.

RESERVATION AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Adhering to the Government of India’s reservation policy, 30% of the scholarships are earmarked for women, with priority given to Single/Twin/Fraternal Girl Child applicants, irrespective of their UG marks. The remaining seats are filled purely based on all-India merit, categorized equally across Arts, Humanities, Law, Management, and Science, Engineering, Medical, Agriculture, and Technology streams.

INSTITUTIONS COVERED

Eligible institutions include:

• UGC-recognized universities and colleges with valid NAAC accreditation,
• Deemed-to-be universities under UGC Act Section 3,
• Central/State government-funded institutions,
• Institutes of National Importance with valid AISHE codes.

SELECTION AND DISBURSEMENT

The selection will be merit-based and processed via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Scholarships will be disbursed directly to students’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system. Applicants must ensure accurate personal and banking details during application to avoid payment issues.

RENEWAL AND APPLICATION PROCESS

Scholarships are renewable annually, contingent on academic performance and promotion to the next year. Students must reapply for renewal via NSP. The application process is entirely online, and no physical documents are required during the initial submission, though institutions may request supporting documents for verification.
