Central University of Kashmir Opens PhD Admissions 2025: Apply by August 5

The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has officially commenced the registration process for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) admissions for the academic year 2025. Aspiring candidates can apply through the university’s Samarth portal — with the last date for submission of applications being August 5, 2025.

CUK will follow a structured admission process primarily based on national eligibility exams. Candidates will be shortlisted according to their performance in prestigious exams such as the UGC NET, CSIR NET, GATE, and CEED, as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.

ADMISSION CATEGORIES AND PRIORITIZATION

CUK has defined three distinct categories for seat allotment:

Category 1: Candidates who have secured fellowships through national-level exams like UGC NET-JRF, CSIR NET-JRF, GATE, and CEED. This group will be given top priority during seat allocation.

Category 2: Includes candidates who have qualified UGC NET or other recognized national-level tests for the post of Assistant Professor. Those who have cleared NET specifically for PhD eligibility also fall under this category and will be considered after Category 1 applicants.

Category 3: Reserved for foreign students, mid-career professionals, and working candidates including civil servants, CUK employees, corporate professionals, and school or college teachers. These candidates can pursue the PhD in either full-time or part-time mode, subject to submission of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

Application Fee and Process

The application fee has been set at Rs 1,000 for general category candidates, while those belonging to reserved categories will pay Rs 500. Applicants must complete the registration and upload necessary documents on the Samarth portal by the deadline.
