The story of Veer Bal Diwas is deeply intertwined with the tumultuous history of India during the Mughal era. Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, was a spiritual leader, philosopher, and warrior who stood against the oppressive Mughal rulers. His entire family became symbols of resistance and martyrdom.
In 1704, Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family was separated during their escape from the siege of Anandpur Sahib. The Guru’s two elder sons, Sahibzada Ajit Singh (18 years old) and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh (14 years old), died fighting valiantly in the Battle of Chamkaur. Meanwhile, his younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh (9 years old) and Sahibzada Fateh Singh (6 years old), along with their grandmother Mata Gujri Ji, were captured by the Mughal forces led by Wazir Khan, the Governor of Sirhind.
The two young Sahibzadas were imprisoned in a cold tower in Sirhind and were repeatedly coerced to renounce their faith, On 26th December 1705, the two young boys embraced martyrdom with remarkable courage, becoming eternal symbols of valour and faith.
