Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 today, marking the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The grand event brought together academicians, policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and government representatives to review the progress made in transforming India’s education landscape over the past five years.

To commemorate the milestone, the Ministry of Education launched several new initiatives through the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) and the Department of Higher Education (DoHE).

Among the key initiatives by DoSEL, the TARA app was introduced to enhance reading fluency for students in Classes 3 to 8. Another innovation, the ‘My Career Advisor’ app, provides personalised career guidance, featuring information on over 1,000 career options along with relevant educational pathways. The Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) system was also launched to assess schools based on health, hygiene, and sanitation standards, with top-performing schools to be awarded certificates of merit.

The Department of Higher Education (DoHE) unveiled several transformative projects aligned with NEP 2020:

Local Language Proficiency Test Portal: A web-based assessment platform measuring LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) skills across 22 Indian languages.

AI Apprenticeships: Through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), students can now pursue apprenticeships in artificial intelligence, with stipends ranging from ₹8,000 to ₹9,000 per month.

New Age Curriculum: Institutes like IIT BHU and IIT Delhi have restructured their BTech and MTech programs, promoting flexibility and hands-on learning.

ViBe: Developed by IIT Ropar, this AI-powered platform supports continuous active learning with adaptive feedback and smart assessments.
