The United Kingdom government has officially launched the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025, opening up a unique opportunity for 3,000 Indian nationals to live, work, study, and travel across the UK for a period of up to two years. The initiative aims to strengthen bilateral ties and provide Indian youth with global exposure and professional experience.
BALLOT REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
Eligible candidates can now register online for a free ballot through the official UK government portal. The ballot window closes at 1:30 PM (IST) on July 24, 2025, and successful applicants will be randomly selected and notified within two weeks of the ballot’s closure.
Applicants must submit key personal details including full name, date of birth, passport information, phone number, and email address, along with a scanned copy of their passport. Only those selected through the ballot will receive an email invitation to formally apply for the visa.
VISA APPLICATION PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS
Once selected, candidates will have 90 days to complete their visa application online. This includes:
- Submitting biometric details.
- Paying the £319 visa fee and a healthcare surcharge.
- Providing evidence of financial stability, with at least £2,530 (around ₹2.7 lakh) in personal savings maintained for 28 consecutive days, with the last day of the period falling within 31 days of the visa application date.
It is important to note that the visa fee is non-refundable even if the application is rejected.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To apply under the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025, applicants must:
- Be Indian citizens aged 18 to 30 at the time of travel.
- Hold a UK-recognised bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
- Not have any dependent children under 18 years of age.
- Not have previously held a Youth Mobility Scheme visa.
Additionally, candidates must maintain at least ₹2.5 lakh in their bank account for 30 continuous days before applying.

- Study in the UK, although some programs may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.
