Procter & Gamble (P&G), one of the world’s largest consumer goods companies, has announced the appointment of Shailesh Jejurikar as its Global Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. With this historic move, Jejurikar will become the first Indian to lead the multinational giant in its over 185-year history.
Currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Jejurikar will succeed Jon Moeller, the current CEO, who will transition to the role of Executive Chairman. The leadership change signifies a strategic evolution for P&G, as the company continues to focus on innovation, operational excellence, and global market leadership.
Jejurikar’s association with P&G spans over three decades, having joined the company in 1989. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held leadership roles across multiple geographies and business segments. Notably, he served as CEO of P&G’s Fabric & Home Care division—the company’s largest and most profitable unit—where he was credited with driving product innovation, supply chain optimization, and global expansion efforts.
Known for his forward-thinking leadership and deep understanding of emerging markets, Jejurikar has played a pivotal role in expanding P&G’s footprint in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. His ability to blend local market insights with global strategies has been instrumental in accelerating growth and enhancing consumer engagement.
“Shailesh is a proven leader who brings a strong track record of delivering results, building high-performing teams, and embracing innovation,” said Jon Moeller in a company statement. “His appointment reflects our confidence in his ability to lead P&G into its next chapter of growth.”
The announcement has been widely celebrated in India and across the global business community, as it underscores the rising influence of Indian executives on the world stage. Jejurikar’s elevation to the top role also highlights P&G’s commitment to diversity and meritocracy in leadership.
Industry analysts view the appointment as a strategic step that positions P&G to navigate evolving consumer demands, technological advancements, and sustainability imperatives in a competitive global environment.
As he prepares to take the helm in 2026, Jejurikar is expected to focus on accelerating digital transformation, strengthening P&G’s core brands, and advancing the company’s environmental and social responsibility goals. His leadership marks a new era for the consumer goods titan
