India made significant strides at the 32nd edition of the World University Games, currently being held across six cities in Germany, with historic and inspiring performances across athletics and archery. Among the highlights was Seema’s groundbreaking achievement, as she became the first Indian woman to win a medal in the 5000m race at the prestigious international university-level event.

Seema clocked an impressive 15:35.86, securing the silver medal and etching her name in Indian athletics history. Her podium finish is a monumental moment for Indian distance running and a testament to the country’s rising prominence in track and field events at the global level.

In archery, Sahil Jadhav clinched the gold medal in the men’s compound individual event, reinforcing India’s growing dominance in the sport. His victory was part of a highly successful campaign by the Indian archery contingent, which wrapped up with a total of five medals.

Among the other standout performers was Preneet Kaur, who won silver in a nail-biting women’s compound final. The Indian compound mixed team delivered a golden performance, claiming the top spot on the podium, while the men’s compound team secured a silver medal and the women’s compound team added a bronze to the tally.

In track and field, Praveen Chitravel delivered a strong showing in the triple jump, leaping to 16.66 meters, which earned him a silver medal. His performance demonstrated consistency and strength in India’s field events representation.

With these achievements, India’s total medal count at the Games has climbed to nine, marking a strong performance so far. While it is still behind the nation’s best-ever showing of 26 medals in 2023 in Chengdu, China, this year’s performances continue to build momentum and raise hopes for more podium finishes in the days ahead.
