Raman Research Institute (RRI) Bengaluru Ph.D Admission 2023 notification released

Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru, Karnataka has invited applications for Ph.D admissions 2023 under the streams Theory and Experimental Sciences. Every applicant will have the option of choosing one stream only, It is a premier research Institution founded by Nobel Laureate Sir C V Raman in 1948.

Research Scholars in the Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru, Karnataka undergo intensive course work during the first year. The medium of instruction is English.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates seeking admission in PhD programme must have a regular MSc degree in Physics / Mathematics or M.E / M.Tech degree in Engineering. Candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent for the qualifying degree. 5% relaxation is provided for the reserved categories, Students who expect to complete their final degree in the academic year 2022-2023 may also apply

BENEFIT

On successful completion of the course work and other requirements for confirmation of their candidature, research students will be registered for a PhD degree with the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.

SCHOLARSHIP

Students will be paid a scholarship of Rs. 31,000 per month for the first 2 years and Rs.35,000 per month thereafter for the next 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress. In addition, they are paid a book grant totalling to Rs.50,000 in 5 years, The scholarship will be provided for a period of five years

SELECTION

Candidates seeking admission are called for interview based on Performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) with a valid score or Performance in CSIRUGC NET for JRF (Physics) or in GATE (Physics/ Mathematics) or in subject GRE (Physics) with a valid score

The final selection of all the candidates is based on performance in the interviews to be held at RRI tentatively during May – June 2023. Call letters for interviews will be sent around second or third week of April 2023.

APPLICATION

All candidates need to apply online for admissions at RRI, online application for RRI PhD admissions will start only after the result of JEST, CSIR-UGC NET and GATE exam are announced
