NTA Opens Registration for AISSEE 2026: Admission to Sainik Schools for Classes 6 and 9 Begins

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially started the registration process for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2026, which serves as the gateway for admission to Classes 6 and 9 in Sainik Schools across India. Interested students can now apply through the official NTA website

AISSEE 2026 Registration Dates and Details

The registration window for the Sainik School Admission 2026 opened earlier this week, and candidates must complete their application process by October 30, 2025. The last date to pay the examination fee is October 31, 2025.

A correction window will be available from November 2 to November 4, 2025, during which applicants can edit any errors in their submitted forms. The AISSEE 2026 exam will be conducted in January 2026 in a pen-and-paper (OMR-based) format across 190 cities in India.

Students are strongly advised to review the eligibility criteria and application guidelines carefully before submitting their forms to avoid disqualification or errors during the verification process.

Eligibility Criteria for AISSEE 2026

For Class 6 admission, candidates must be between 10 and 12 years old as of March 31, 2026.
For Class 9 admission, candidates must be between 13 and 15 years old on the same date.

Only boys and girls meeting the age criteria and educational qualifications can apply for the Sainik School Admission 2026-27 session.

AISSEE 2026 Application Fees

The application fee varies based on the candidate’s category:

  • General / OBC / Defence / Ex-servicemen: ₹850
  • SC / ST categories: ₹700

The fee can be paid online through credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI via the NTA payment gateway.

AISSEE 2026 EXAM PATTERN AND STRUCTURE

The AISSEE 2026 exam will be conducted offline using OMR sheets.

For Class 6:

  • Duration: 150 minutes
  • Languages Offered: 13 (including English and Hindi)
  • Total Marks: 300
  • Sections:
    • Language – 25 questions (50 marks)
    • Mathematics – 50 questions (150 marks)
    • Intelligence – 25 questions (50 marks)
    • General Knowledge – 25 questions (50 marks)

For Class 9:

  • Duration: 180 minutes
  • Language: English only
  • Total Marks: 400
  • Sections:
    • Mathematics – 50 questions (200 marks)
    • English – 25 questions (50 marks)
    • Intelligence – 25 questions (50 marks)
    • General Science – 25 questions (50 marks)
    • Social Science – 25 questions (50 marks)

Passing Criteria and Admission Scope

To qualify for admission, students must score at least 25% in each subject and 40% overall. However, this criterion does not apply to SC/ST candidates, who are exempt from minimum qualifying marks.

AISSEE 2026 will enable admissions to Classes 6 and 9 in 33 existing Sainik Schools and 69 newly approved Sainik Schools. Of these, 19 new schools will also admit students to Class 9 for the 2026–27 academic session.
