The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra, a prestigious Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. Programmes for the Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2025–26. Eligible candidates can apply for Full-Time and Part-Time Ph.D. programmes across various disciplines and categories.
PROGRAMME CATEGORIES
Ph.D. admissions are offered under the following categories:
- Institute Fellowship
- Sponsored/Part-Time
- Project Fellowship
- External Fellowships (CSIR, UGC, DST, DBT, INSPIRE, etc.)
- Visvesvaraya Ph.D. Scheme (Phase-II) for Electronics and IT
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Academic Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology/Sciences/Humanities/Management with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 8.5 CGPA or 80% marks, Relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA is provided to SC/ST/PwD candidates at both UG and PG levels
PART-TIME CANDIDATES
Have at least 2 years of regular employment in a recognized Govt./Industry/Academic/PSU/PPP institution, Submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer (format provided by NITK)
EXEMPTION FROM WRITTEN TEST
Candidates with the following qualifications are exempted from the written test and will directly appear for an interview:
- GATE/NET-JRF/NET-LS qualified full-time candidates
- NIT Kurukshetra faculty and R&D staff with valid experience applying for part-time seats
ADMISSION PROCESS
The selection involves:
Written Test: Paper I: General Aptitude and Paper II: Subject-specific knowledge
Presentation and Interview: For shortlisted candidates (exempted categories attend only the interview)
