The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) successfully conducted the NEET PG 2025 examination on August 3, marking a historic milestone as the largest computer-based medical entrance test held in a single shift in India. The exam was conducted across 1,052 test centres in 301 cities, with over 2.42 lakh medical aspirants appearing, according to an official press release by NBEMS.
Originally slated for June 15 in two shifts, the exam faced widespread opposition from candidates who raised concerns about disparity in evaluation due to the multiple-shift format. The issue was escalated to the Supreme Court, which on May 30, directed NBEMS to conduct the examination in a single shift to ensure uniformity and fairness. While the Court permitted NBEMS to stick to the June 15 date, the Board later requested more time to reorganize logistics for a single-shift format, resulting in the rescheduling of the exam to August 3.
With the exam now completed, the NEET PG 2025 results are expected to be announced around September 3, 2025. As per the NEET PG information bulletin, NBEMS typically takes about a month to process and release results. For reference, in 2023, results were declared just 12 days after the examination.
Once the results are declared, candidates will be able to download their scorecards from the official portal — using their login credentials. It is important to note that the scorecards will remain accessible on the website for six months from the date of declaration. After this period, no requests for scorecard retrieval will be entertained by the Board.
The NEET PG exam is a gateway for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses such as MD/MS/DNB/PG Diploma programmes across India. Conducting such a large-scale test in a single shift was a logistical challenge, but NBEMS’s successful execution has been widely acknowledged as a significant achievement.
