The Ministry of Education has issued a directive to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to screen the inspirational film Chalo Jeete Hain across their schools. In its communication dated September 11, the Ministry emphasized that the screenings should take place between September 16 and October 2, 2025. This initiative aims to promote value-based education, moral reasoning, and social-emotional learning among students.
According to the Ministry’s letter, the film will help young learners reflect on themes of character, service, and responsibility. By portraying real-life experiences, Chalo Jeete Hain provides a powerful case study on moral reasoning, encouraging critical thinking, empathy, and self-reflection. The initiative aligns with the government’s broader focus on holistic education and life skills development.
Integration with the Prerana Programme
The screenings are part of the Prerana experiential learning programme, which is grounded in nine core human values:
- Swabhiman aur Vinay (Self-respect and Humility)
- Shaurya aur Sahas (Courage and Bravery)
- Parishram aur Samarpan (Hard Work and Dedication)
- Satyanishtha aur Shuchita (Integrity and Purity)
- Karuna aur Seva (Compassion and Service)
- Navachar aur Jigyasa (Innovation and Curiosity)
- Vividhta aur Ekta (Diversity and Unity)
- Shraddha aur Vishwas (Faith and Trust)
- Swatantrata aur Kartavya (Freedom and Duty)
The Prerana Programme is conducted from the historic Vernacular School of Vadnagar, Gujarat, established in 1888 — the same institution where Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his educational journey. The programme blends storytelling, indigenous games, value-based sessions, and audio-visual learning to make education engaging and impactful.
About Chalo Jeete Hain
The film Chalo Jeete Hain is inspired by a childhood incident in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life. It tells the story of young Naru, a boy influenced by Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, who strives to understand life’s deeper meaning and contribute positively to his community. The film encapsulates the spirit of “Only those who live for others, actually live,” a quote from Swami Vivekananda.
Since its release, Chalo Jeete Hain has been regularly used in the Prerana Programme as a key educational resource. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) highlights how the film’s themes resonate strongly with students’ personal growth, character building, and nation-building values.
Impact of the Screening Initiative
By integrating films like Chalo Jeete Hain into classrooms, the Ministry of Education hopes to create immersive learning environments that go beyond textbooks. Films can bring abstract values, ethical dilemmas, historical contexts, and human emotions to life — making lessons relatable and transformative.
This initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to value-based education, helping the next generation of students develop leadership qualities, empathy, and social responsibility while staying rooted in India’s cultural and moral heritage.
