Maharashtra Deputy CM announces Relief for Flood-Affected Students: 12th Exam Form Deadline Extended

In a significant relief measure for students affected by the recent floods in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the extension of the 12th standard exam form-filling deadline to October 20, 2025. The decision comes after widespread appeals from students and parents across flood-affected regions who were struggling to complete the process due to severe disruptions caused by heavy rainfall and flooding.

The original deadline for the Maharashtra HSC (Class 12) exam form submission was set to expire soon, but many students in the flood-hit districts found themselves unable to access schools, internet facilities, or even retrieve essential documents.

Speaking to reporters, Eknath Shinde said,

“I was getting calls from many students and farmer parents in the flood-affected areas. They were saying that due to the flood situation, it is not possible for the 12th standard students to fill out the exam form. Tomorrow is the last date to fill out the 12th standard exam form.”

Understanding the urgency of the matter, Shinde immediately reached out to Education Minister Dada Bhuse, who responded positively to the situation. Following their discussion, the state government officially extended the deadline for filling out Class 12 exam forms till October 20, 2025, providing much-needed relief to thousands of students.

Relief for Flood-Affected Students

This extension comes as a major relief to students and parents in areas severely impacted by the floods. Many villages and towns across Maharashtra have been submerged under heavy rainfall, leading to the loss of property, books, and other essential study materials. Power cuts and poor internet connectivity further hindered students’ ability to complete the online exam form submission.

By extending the deadline, the Maharashtra government has ensured that no student is left behind due to natural calamities. The move is expected to benefit thousands of students across multiple districts, especially those from rural and farming communities who were disproportionately affected by the floods.

Government’s Commitment to Students’ Welfare

Deputy CM Shinde emphasized that the state government prioritizes education, and that students’ future should not be compromised because of unforeseen circumstances.

“I understood the situation and spoke to the Education Minister Dada Bhuse over the phone. Considering the difficulties of the parents and students, the exam date of the 12th standard students was postponed to October 20. Due to this, many students will get relief,” Shinde said.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) will issue updated notifications to schools and junior colleges regarding the revised schedule. Students are encouraged to stay in contact with their respective institutions and complete the submission process within the new deadline.

Impact of Floods on Education

The flood situation in Maharashtra has disrupted not only school functioning but also the academic calendar. Many students have lost their textbooks, notes, and study materials, and several schools have been converted into temporary relief shelters. The government’s timely intervention is expected to reduce the psychological and academic stress on students as they prepare for the HSC Board Exams 2026.

The extension of the Maharashtra HSC Exam Form 2026 deadline till October 20, 2025, stands as a compassionate step by the Maharashtra government towards ensuring that every student gets a fair opportunity to appear for their board exams despite the natural disaster. This move reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting the academic continuity and well-being of flood-affected students.
