The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has officially begun the registration process for the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) 2026, inviting applications for admission to Master of Design (MDes) and PhD programmes across leading design institutions in India. The CEED 2026 exam serves as a gateway for design aspirants seeking admission to IITs, IISc Bangalore, and other result-sharing institutes offering postgraduate and doctoral design programmes. The exam will assess candidates’ aptitude for design involving visual perception, creativity, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
CEED 2026 Registration Details
The online registration for CEED 2026 began on October 1, 2025, at 5 PM and will remain open till October 31, 2025, without any late fee. Candidates who miss this deadline can still register between November 1 and November 7, 2025, by paying a late fee of ₹500.
The application fee can be paid online through the CEED portal. Applicants are advised to complete their registration early to avoid technical delays or last-minute errors.
However, according to the official notification, the CEED candidate portal will not be available on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM due to scheduled maintenance.
CEED 2026 Exam Schedule and Pattern
The CEED 2026 entrance test will be conducted on January 18, 2026 (Sunday) from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in two parts — Part A and Part B.
- Part A: Computer-based test conducted from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for 150 marks.
- This section includes multiple-choice, multiple-select, and numerical answer-type questions.
- One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer, and no marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.
- Part B: Descriptive section conducted from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, evaluating drawing, creativity, and design aptitude.
Candidates must attempt both sections to qualify for further rounds of admission.
