CM SHRI Schools Admission Test 2025 for Classes 6 to 8 announced by Delhi Government

The Delhi government has officially announced the introduction of an entrance examination for admissions into Classes 6 to 8 in 33 of the 75 newly identified Chief Minister Schools of High Repute and Innovation (CM SHRI) for the academic session 2025–26. The Directorate of Education (DoE) released detailed guidelines, stating that the test will be titled the CM SHRI Schools Admission Test 2025.

These CM SHRI schools, now designated as ‘Specified Category’ institutions under Section 2 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, are part of the government’s flagship initiative to transform existing government schools into model centers of learning. They are set to feature modern infrastructure, advanced classroom technologies, and innovative pedagogy in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

As per the DoE’s guidelines, the admission test will be conducted through a fair, transparent, and merit-based process. Only students who are permanent residents of Delhi and currently enrolled in Classes 6, 7, or 8 in any recognized school within Delhi during the 2025–26 academic year will be eligible to apply.

A minimum of 50 per cent of the total seats in each CM SHRI school will be reserved for students studying in government or government-aided schools in Delhi. This includes schools under the Directorate of Education (DoE), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs).

Further, to promote inclusivity, the government has provided a 5 per cent relaxation in eligibility marks for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) non-creamy layer, and Children With Special Needs (CWSN).
