The British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, has officially opened the application process for the twelfth edition of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2026. These prestigious awards celebrate outstanding leaders who have studied at UK universities and have gone on to make significant contributions to their communities, industries, and countries.
Applications Open Until 16 October 2025
Applications for the Study UK Alumni Awards 2026 opened on 1 September 2025, and the last date to submit nominations is 16 October 2025 at 17.00 BST (9.30 pm IST). The awards invite alumni from across the world to showcase their achievements and compete at both national and global levels.
Four Categories of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2026
The awards are presented under four key categories:
- Science and Sustainability
- Culture, Creativity and Sport
- Social Action
- Business and Innovation
According to the British Council, “The four global winners are chosen from the 28 global finalists by our judging panel. Global Alumni Award winners will have the opportunity to raise their international profiles, expand their professional networks, and enhance their careers through a dedicated networking visit to the UK.”
National and Global Recognition
India will host a national ceremony in February 2026 to honour its finalists. As per the tentative schedule, the global winners will be announced in August 2026, followed by a digital campaign highlighting their achievements. This provides participants with a unique opportunity to showcase their success stories on a global platform.
A Record of Global Impact
The Study UK Alumni Awards have become one of the most significant initiatives celebrating the achievements of UK-educated alumni worldwide. In the previous edition, more than 1,300 applications were received from international UK alumni spanning nearly 100 countries. The 11th edition award ceremony took place in Delhi in March 2025, recognising exceptional achievers:
- Aashish Mathur, alumnus of Ulster University, won the Science and Sustainability Award.
- Gayatri Madkekar received the Culture and Creativity Award.
- Raju Kendra from SOAS, University of London, won the Social Action Award.
- Mayank Bherulal Nagori secured the Business and Innovation Award.
