NCERT to Introduce Special Classroom Modules on Operation Sindoor and National Achievements

The National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) is developing two new classroom modules to educate students about India’s defence strategy and global stature, with a special focus on Operation Sindoor — India’s cross-border strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan. According to a PTI report citing official sources, the initiative aims to instill awareness among students from Classes 3 to 12 about how a nation responds to terror threats through defence, diplomacy, and inter-ministerial coordination.

The modules are being designed in two segments: one for students of Classes 3 to 8 and the other for Classes 9 to 12. Each module will likely span 8 to 10 pages and offer an age-appropriate, contextual understanding of India’s strategic responses. Education ministry sources emphasize that the content will focus on helping students grasp how national security decisions are taken and how military operations are supported by diplomatic efforts and institutional coordination.

In addition to Operation Sindoor, the curriculum will also cover other major national themes. These include Mission LiFE — India’s lifestyle initiative for environment-conscious living; the tragic realities of the Partition; and India’s ascent as a prominent space power. These additions reflect a broader effort by NCERT to update curricula with content that resonates with contemporary national achievements and challenges.

As per reports by news agency ANI, the modules will also highlight India’s significant strides in space exploration. Notable missions such as Chandrayaan and Aditya-L1 will feature prominently, alongside the recent historic achievement of Indian Air Force Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla becoming the first Indian to reach the International Space Station (ISS) as part of Axiom Mission 4.

“The modules aim to provide a comprehensive view of India’s progress across sectors — from defence to diplomacy, from sustainable development to space exploration,” a government source shared.

Through these new learning materials, NCERT aims to not only educate but also inspire a sense of national pride, civic responsibility, and scientific curiosity among school children. By bringing real-world developments into classrooms, the initiative seeks to create an informed generation of students who understand both the historical and modern dimensions of India’s journey as a sovereign, secure, and forward-looking nation.
