In a landmark move aimed at promoting equal academic opportunities, the Andhra Pradesh Government, under the leadership of Human Resource Minister Nara Lokesh, has launched a statewide initiative to provide free JEE and NEET coaching to students enrolled in government junior colleges. The program, launched on Sunday, is expected to benefit over 1 lakh students from 1,355 government junior colleges across the state.
As part of this ambitious initiative, the state government will distribute specially-designed study material, prepared by expert faculty, to ensure that every student, regardless of economic background, has access to high-quality preparatory resources. This initiative is a significant step in enabling government school students to compete effectively in national-level entrance exams like JEE and NEET.
“This initiative gives every Andhra student a fair chance to dream big and achieve bigger,” said Minister Nara Lokesh in an official press release, highlighting the government’s commitment to educational equity and inclusive academic growth.
To support this program, college hours have been extended till 5 PM, with two hours daily dedicated to focused coaching sessions. These sessions will make use of the newly developed study materials and are designed to provide structured and rigorous preparation.
Additionally, junior lecturers have undergone specialized training to deliver the content uniformly and effectively, ensuring that students receive consistent quality education, regardless of their geographic location or socioeconomic status. The government has also incorporated a system of weekly tests, regular progress reviews, and performance tracking to monitor student improvement and ensure timely academic support.
Calling it a “first-of-its-kind” initiative, Human Resource Minister Nara Lokesh emphasized that the program is designed to help students from economically weaker sections compete on equal footing with their peers from elite private institutions. By bridging the academic gap through targeted coaching and robust learning support, the government aims to level the playing field and increase the representation of underprivileged students in prestigious professional courses.
This initiative not only reflects Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to education reform and empowerment but also serves as a model for other states looking to democratize access to competitive exam preparation and break down systemic educational barriers.
