The Wipro Education Fellowship Program is a transformative initiative by the Wipro Foundation designed to support the early-stage journey of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) focused on enhancing school education in India. With the belief that systemic and sustainable educational reform requires localized, community-driven innovation, this fellowship empowers individuals and founding teams committed to creating a meaningful impact on education in vulnerable and underserved communities.
Since its inception in 2015–16, the program has supported over 155 individuals and 90 organizations working across more than 60 districts. The initiative recognizes pressing challenges in India’s educational ecosystem — including rote learning practices, high dropout rates, and inequitable access — and promotes alternatives that emphasize child-centered learning, conceptual clarity, critical thinking, and holistic development.
The fellowship spans three years, providing fellows with not only financial support but also crucial capacity-building assistance. Fellows receive guidance on organizational development, mentoring from education sector experts, and opportunities for collaboration with peer CSOs. The program cultivates an environment where grassroots educational initiatives can thrive and scale their impact.
To apply, individuals must submit a resume, statement of purpose (SOP), a proposal outlining their envisioned educational organization, and a financial plan or budget, if available. Additional supporting documents like recommendation letters and past work samples are encouraged to strengthen the application.
Eligibility requires applicants to be committed individuals or part of founding teams aiming to establish a CSO focused on school education in India. The proposal must align with Wipro Foundation’s values of equity, quality, and child-centric pedagogy. Applicants should be ready to commit full-time to launching and managing their organization. While prior experience in the education or development sector is helpful, it is not mandatory.
