VITREE : Ph.D / Direct Ph.D admissions 2023

Registrations are open for the Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) is conducted for admission to various Ph.D /Direct Ph.D programmes in VIT group of Institutions.

IMPORTANT DATES

VITREE – July 2023 session is scheduled to be conducted on 16th and 23rd April 2023, Interview is scheduled to be held on 13th and 14th May 2023, results to be announced on 30th May 2023, Classes to commence from 17th July 2023

EXAM PATTERN

The duration of the Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) examination is  2 hours. All questions in Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s) and carry one mark for right answer  and 0 marks for the wrong answer.

The question paper for Ph.D Entrance Exam will have 100 MCQs (Technical – 70 questions, English communication skills – 15, Statistics and probability – 15 questions) and the question paper for Direct Ph.D programme Entrance Exam will have 100 MCQs (Technical – 80 questions, English communication skills – 20 questions). The medium of question paper will be English only.

ELIGIBILITY

Ph.D / Direct Ph.D programmes are offered in Engineering Stream, Non-Engineering Stream – Languages, Management, Design & Planning, Hospitality Management, Sciences, Architecture and Planning, Agriculture, Law, Fashion Technology (For programme based qualification details refer the notification given below), Candidates who have obtained the qualifying degree by May 2023 are eligible to apply for Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE)

A candidate who desire to work for Ph.D / Direct Ph.D degree on full-time basis should apply in the prescribed form on or before 31st May 2023, Teachers working in other colleges in a permanent position and candidates sponsored by R&D organizations are eligible to apply to work on a part time basis for Ph.D

DURATION

The minimum duration of study and research from the date of registration for the Ph.D programme to the date of submission of thesis will be 30 months for full time research scholars and 36 months for part time research scholars, Whereas the minimum duration of study and research from the date of registration for the Direct Ph. D programme to the date of submission of thesis will be 4 years.

SELECTION

For Ph.D programmes the Selection will be based on the performance in the VITREE 2023 score, PG degree marks, research proposal, and personal interview, for Direct Ph.D programme the Selection based on the performance in the VITREE 2023 score, B.E / B.Tech degree marks, research proposal and personal interview
