The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a fresh notification announcing the recommendation of 114 candidates from the reserve list of Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 to fill the remaining vacancies in prestigious government services. These include the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), along with other Central Services Group A and Group B posts.
This update is a significant relief for candidates awaiting results beyond the main merit list. As per the official UPSC notice, the names of the recommended candidates have been forwarded to the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) for further appointment procedures. Out of the 114 recommended candidates:
- General Category: 94
- EWS (Economically Weaker Sections): 5
- OBC (Other Backward Classes): 13
- SC (Scheduled Caste): 1
- ST (Scheduled Tribe): 1
These candidates will soon be contacted directly by the DoPT regarding appointment details, cadre allocation, and joining instructions.
Official Statement by UPSC
In its notification, the commission said: “As sought by the Department of Personnel & Training, the Commission has now recommended 114 candidates which include 94-General, 05-EWS, 13-OBC, 01-SC and 01-ST, to fill up the remaining posts based on the Civil Services Examination, 2024. The candidates, so recommended, will be intimated directly by the DOP&T.”
UPSC CSE 2024 Results Overview
The results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 were earlier declared on April 22, 2025. A total of 1,009 candidates were recommended for appointment based on their performance in the written mains examination and the personality test/interview. The commission had notified 1129 total vacancies, and the remaining posts are now being filled from the reserve list.
This move ensures that the existing vacancies in IAS, IFS, IPS, and Central Services can be fulfilled within the recruitment cycle, allowing qualified candidates to begin their services without further delay.
