The Combined Geo-scientist and Geologist exam is organized by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to recruit eligible candidates for the GSI (Geographical Survey of India) and Central Water Board. The candidates are opted for Group ‘A’ posts in Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist and Group ‘B’ post of Junior Hydrologists.
Every year, the Commission releases the Combined Geo-scientist and Geologist exam notification in September to shortlist the candidates for the posts. The selection will be based on the competitive examination. Their selection in each stage of the exam will be purely based on merit and will be selected only after satisfying all the eligibility criteria.

ELIGIBILITY
The age limit of aspirant must be in between 21-32 years to apply for this exam, The qualification requirement changes from one post to another post.
Application fees are 200 rupees for the general category male and OBC. Female candidates, SC, ST, and PWD are excluded from fees payment.

STEPS TO FILL THE APPLICATION FORM
One must follow the below steps to fill up the application form and successfully register for CGGE exam 2021-
Step 1: Kindly visit the official website of the UPSC.
Step 2: Search for the link for the UPSC Geo-scientist
Step 3: Enter the details like valid email id to get register.
Step 4: Candidate will receive login credentials to their registered email id.
Step 5: Using those credentials login to website and enter all the required details like personal and academic details in the application form.
Step 6: Review all the information that you entered is correct or not before submission.
Step 7: Pay the fees online and then take a printout copy of the application form.
The candidates have to enter the details of the photo ID card and also upload its scanned copy. This will be used as reference in the future and you have to carry this specific photo ID to the exam center at the time of the exam.
COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST (CGGE) EXAM PATTERN 2021.
The CGGE exam pattern along with syllabus got changed for the examination from this year. The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of three stages. We have described the detailed CGGE exam pattern for Preliminary and Main in this page. Combined Geo-Scientist Examination will be held in three stages as follows:
- Stage I: Preliminary Examination
- Stage II: Main Examination
- Stage III: Personality Test
The Preliminary examination will screen the aspirants for taking the Main examination. It will be a conducted through online Examination and includes objective type questions having 2 papers. Marks secured in this exam will be counted for deciding the final merit. General English Paper will be discontinued.
