University of Wollongong (UOW)

The University of Wollongong (UOW) India has announced the opening of applications for its prestigious Women Leaders in FinTech and Data Analytics Scholarship for the July intake. This initiative aims to empower Indian female students aspiring to lead in the fields of financial technology and data analytics. Eligible applicants can apply through the official portal

This merit-based scholarship provides a 50% reduction in tuition fees for female postgraduate students commencing their studies in 2025 or 2026. It is applicable to students enrolling in Financial Technology, Financial Technology (Extension), or Computing (Data Analytics) programmes at UOW. Applicants must be Indian citizens and should have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 75 or higher to be considered.

Importantly, this scholarship is not available to students who are already receiving other tuition-based scholarships, bursaries, or sponsorships. However, students receiving stipend-based financial support are exempt from this restriction, allowing them to benefit from the initiative.

The scholarship was launched last year and has already recognized promising talent. The 2025 Women Leaders in FinTech Scholarship has been awarded to Shivangi Mishra, while the inaugural awardee was Cerin Elsa Joji, a student in the FinTech (Extension) program.

Speaking about the initiative, Nimay Kalyani, Campus Director at UOW India, said, “We’re committed to creating opportunities for women to thrive in areas where they’ve historically been underrepresented. Through this scholarship, we hope to reduce financial barriers and support a new generation of female leaders in the rapidly increasing field of technology and analytics.”

The core aim of this scholarship is to encourage women to step into leadership roles in the digital domain by easing financial pressures and creating equitable educational opportunities. It is part of UOW India’s broader mission to support gender diversity in STEM and related fields.
