UIDAI Partners with Starlink for Aadhaar-Based Verification to Boost Digital Connectivity

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has entered into a strategic partnership with Starlink Satellite Communication Pvt Ltd to enable Aadhaar-based customer verification. This collaboration is set to transform the way customers are onboarded, making the process smooth, secure, paperless, and fully compliant with KYC norms.

The announcement was made in the presence of UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar and senior officials, marking a new milestone in India’s journey toward building a strong digital public infrastructure. The partnership highlights Aadhaar’s role as one of the most trusted digital identity systems in the world and emphasizes India’s leadership in digital governance.

Aadhaar Authentication for Starlink Customers

As part of this collaboration, Starlink will use Aadhaar authentication for customer verification. This will ensure that onboarding is not only seamless but also fraud-resistant and transparent. By integrating Aadhaar into its systems, Starlink can expand its satellite-based internet services across India while ensuring compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines.

The move is particularly significant for rural and remote areas, where Starlink’s satellite broadband solutions can help bridge the digital divide. Aadhaar-based authentication will play a critical role in ensuring that customer identity verification is reliable and quick, reducing paperwork and delays.

Appointment as Sub-AUA and Sub-eKYC User Agency

To enable this, Starlink Satellite Communication Pvt Ltd has been officially appointed as a Sub-Authentication User Agency (Sub-AUA) and Sub-eKYC User Agency by UIDAI. This designation allows Starlink to securely access Aadhaar authentication services and use them for eKYC, further strengthening its ability to offer safe and compliant digital services.
