University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the State-wise list of Fake Universities as on September 2023,
University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to the concerned States Government Departments of Higher Education / Principal Secretaries and States for take appropriate action against the fake Institutions.
As per the State-wise list of Fake Universities as on September 2023 there are around 20 Fake universities with Andhra Pradesh has got 2 fake universities, Delhi 8 Fake Universities, Karnataka / Kerala / Maharashtra / Puducherry has 1 fake university respectively, Uttar Pradesh has 4 Fake Universities and the West Bengal has 2 Fake Universities
As per the Section 22 UCG act, the right of conferring and granting degrees shall be exercised only by the University established or incorporated by or under a Central act or Provisional act or a state act or an institution to be deemed to be the University under section 3 or an institution specially empowered by an Act of Parliament to confer or grant degree
