To mark the occasion of National Handloom Day, the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) under the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with MyGov, is inviting citizens across India to participate in an engaging online quiz titled “Threads of Expression – Bridging Handloom Traditions and Modern Indian Art”. This unique initiative aims to raise awareness about the deeply rooted connections between India’s rich handloom heritage and its evolving modern art landscape.
The primary objective of the quiz is to enlighten participants about how traditional handloom motifs, techniques, and aesthetics have inspired and influenced modern Indian artists whose works are prominently displayed in NGMA’s prestigious collection. From textile-inspired brushwork to reimagined traditional designs, the quiz offers an insightful glimpse into the intersection of heritage and creativity.
Participants will explore themes such as:
