Special OTET 2025 Deferred Again by BSE Due to Unavoidable Circumstances

The Special Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) 2025, initially scheduled for August 31, 2025, has been deferred once again, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha announced on Thursday. According to the official notification, the postponement is due to “unavoidable circumstances”, and fresh dates for the exam will be communicated shortly.

This marks the second postponement of the Special OTET 2025, which is conducted for the recruitment of primary and upper primary teachers in Odisha’s government schools. The exam includes Paper-I and Paper-II, covering candidates aspiring to teach Classes 1 to 8.

Background: First Postponement of Special OTET 2025

Originally, the Special OTET 2025 was scheduled for July 20, 2025, but it was cancelled a day prior to the exam. The cancellation occurred after a handwritten copy of the question paper, along with answers identical to the official sets prepared by BSE, surfaced on Facebook and other social media platforms.

The leak prompted immediate action from the authorities. A CID-Crime Branch investigation was launched to identify those responsible. So far, the investigation has led to the arrest of eight individuals, including the BSE vice-president, for their alleged involvement in the question paper leak.
