In a historic move, Priya Nair has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), effective August 1, 2025. She will become the first woman in the company’s history to lead the FMCG giant, marking a significant milestone in corporate India’s journey toward gender diversity in leadership.
Priya Nair’s elevation follows the announcement that current CEO and MD Rohit Jawa will step down on July 31, 2025, after serving for over two impactful years. Jawa is credited with steering HUL through a dynamic market landscape with his ‘ASPIRE’ strategy, focusing on high-growth demand spaces and driving digital transformation, sustainability, and portfolio expansion.
With a career spanning three decades at HUL, Priya Nair brings deep institutional knowledge and global experience to the role. She joined HUL in 1995, and over the years, has held various strategic roles across sales, marketing, home care, and beauty segments. Her leadership in these key areas helped shape successful brand campaigns and drive growth in both domestic and international markets.
Most recently, she served as the Global Chief Marketing Officer for Beauty & Well-Being at Unilever, where she led innovation and purpose-driven branding across a global portfolio. Her customer-centric approach and keen understanding of evolving consumer preferences have made her one of the most respected figures in the consumer goods industry.
Priya’s appointment reflects Unilever’s commitment to promoting inclusive leadership and harnessing diverse perspectives at the top level. Her rise to the helm of HUL, a flagship company with over 80 years of legacy in India, is being celebrated as a breakthrough moment for women in business leadership.
In her upcoming role, Nair is expected to focus on accelerating growth, digital innovation, and sustainability, while maintaining HUL’s position as one of India’s most trusted brands. Her global exposure and deep connection with Indian markets place her in a strong position to lead HUL through its next phase of transformation.
As the first woman to take charge of HUL, Priya Nair not only breaks the glass ceiling but also inspires a new generation of leaders. Her appointment signals a progressive shift in corporate India, where talent and vision continue to drive change beyond traditional barriers.
