With a total outlay of Rs.75,021 crore for installing rooftop solar and providing free electricity up to 300 units every month for One Crore households, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana scheme on 13th February 2024.
BENEFITS
The PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana scheme provides a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of 60% of system cost for 2 kW systems and 40% of additional system cost for systems between 2 to 3 kW capacity. The Central Financial Assistance (CFA) will be capped at 3 kW.
At current benchmark prices, this will mean Rs 30,000 subsidy for 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW systems and Rs 78,000 for 3 kW systems or higher,
The households to apply for subsidy under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana through the National Portal and will be able to select a suitable vendor for installing rooftop solar, the Households will be able to access collateral-free low-interest loan products of around 7% at present for installation of residential RTS systems up to 3 kW.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Applicant must be Indian Citizen, Must own a house with roof, suitable for installing solar panels, the household must have electricity connection, must have not availed any of the solar panel subsidies earlier
STEPS TO APPLY
Step 1 : Register in the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana portal, by Select your State, Electricity Distribution Company, Entering Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number and E-mail
Step 2 : Login with Consumer Number & Mobile Number, Apply for the Rooftop Solar as per the form
Step 3 : Wait for the feasibility approval from DISCOM. Once receive the feasibility approval install the plant through any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM
Step 4 : Once installation is Complete, submit the plant details and apply for net meter
Step 5 : After installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM, get generate commissioning certificate from portal
Step 6 : After getting the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the official portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days
