The National Overseas Scholarship Scheme for ST Students 2025–26, offered by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, presents a prestigious opportunity for students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category to pursue higher education abroad. The scheme is specifically designed for Master’s, Ph.D., and Postdoctoral degree aspirants, aiming to empower talented tribal students with global academic exposure and advanced research opportunities.
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
The core aim of this initiative is to enhance the educational capabilities of ST students by supporting them in acquiring international qualifications from reputed foreign universities or institutions. It is a significant step toward building inclusive, skilled, and globally competent tribal youth.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following age and academic criteria:
Postdoctoral Research Fellows

- Must not exceed 38 years of age as of 1st July 2025
- Should hold a Ph.D. degree and have scored at least 55% marks in the relevant Master’s program
Ph.D. Candidates

- Maximum age: 35 years as of 1st July 2025
- Should have a Master’s degree with 55% marks or equivalent
Master’s Degree Aspirants

- Maximum age: 32 years as of 1st July 2025
- Should have secured 55% marks in the qualifying Bachelor’s degree
Additionally, the applicant’s total family income must not exceed ₹6,00,000 per annum.
FINANCIAL BENEFITS
Selected scholars will receive:
- An annual maintenance allowance of USD 15,400
- Additional financial aid for tuition fees, travel expenses, visa charges, books, medical insurance, and other necessary costs depending on the country and course

- Recent passport-size photograph
- ST certificate issued by competent authority
- PVTG certificate (if applicable)
- Offer of admission from a foreign university
- Income certificate from a competent authority
- Class 10 certificate/marksheet for age verification
- Academic transcripts (Graduation, Postgraduation, Ph.D. certificates where applicable)
- Conversion sheet for CGPA to percentage, issued by the university
