The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India has officially invited nominations for the National Youth Award (NYA) 2024, a prestigious recognition for young individuals and voluntary organizations making remarkable contributions to the nation. This award serves as a powerful motivator for youth development, social service, and national integration, while fostering a strong sense of responsibility, leadership, and good citizenship among young Indians.

Purpose of the National Youth Award

The National Youth Award (NYA) aims to:

  • Recognize and reward young achievers (aged 15–29 years) who have demonstrated excellence in national development or social service.
  • Encourage young people to take active responsibility for community welfare and personal growth.
  • Acknowledge and support the efforts of voluntary organizations engaged in meaningful work for youth empowerment and social upliftment.

By conferring these awards, the Ministry seeks to inspire countless young Indians to channel their skills, energy, and innovative ideas into building a stronger, inclusive, and progressive India.

Categories of the National Youth Award 2024

The NYA 2024 will be presented in two distinct categories:

  1. Individual Category – For young individuals making notable contributions in fields such as health, innovation, active citizenship, culture, education, human rights, environment, sports, and community service.
    • Award Includes: A medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
  2. Organisation Category – For voluntary youth organizations playing an impactful role in national development or social service.
    • Award Includes: A medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of ₹3,00,000.

The Ministry has indicated that ordinarily, up to 20 awards for individuals and 5 awards for organizations will be conferred each year. However, the number may vary in deserving cases at the discretion of the sanctioning authority.

Application Process for NYA 2024

Nominations for the National Youth Award 2024 must be submitted online through the official portal Applicants are advised to carefully review the guidelines and eligibility criteria available on the portal before submission.

The last date for submission of nominations has been extended to 30th September 2025, ensuring that all deserving individuals and organizations have ample opportunity to apply.
