Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), a Central University established in 1998, continues its mission to provide quality higher education with a special focus on promoting the Urdu language and reaching out to marginalized communities across India. Through its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), MANUU is now inviting applications for admission to various programmes under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the academic year 2025–26.
The university’s CDOE is a robust and inclusive educational platform backed by an extensive network comprising 9 Regional Centres, 6 Sub-Regional Centres, and 156 Learner Support Centres spread across the country. This framework ensures that quality education is delivered efficiently, even to remote and underserved areas.
PROGRAMMES OFFERED (ODL MODE)
MANUU offers a wide array of programmes through distance education to cater to diverse academic interests and professional goals.
Postgraduate Programmes (2 years):
- M.A. in Urdu, Hindi, English, Arabic, History, and Islamic Studies.
These programs are designed to foster advanced academic knowledge while reinforcing language and cultural studies.
Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (4YUG):
- B.A. (Hons), B.Com. (Hons), and B.Sc. (Hons)
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these multidisciplinary undergraduate degrees focus on both academic depth and holistic learning.
Diploma Programmes (1 year):
- Journalism & Mass Communication
- Teaching English
- Early Childhood Care and Education
- School Leadership and Management
- Employability Skills
- Urdu
These courses aim to build vocational and professional skills relevant to emerging job markets.
Certificate Programmes (6 months):
- Functional English
- Proficiency in Urdu through English
These short-term courses are tailored for foundational skill-building and language development.
Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate Courses: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Some PG programmes may require Urdu as a subject or medium of instruction at Class 10 or higher.
Undergraduate Programmes: A 10+2 qualification or its equivalent is required. For most UG courses, Urdu as a subject/medium is mandatory, except for B.Sc., which requires a science stream background.
Diploma and Certificate Courses: A minimum qualification of 10+2 is needed for Diplomas, while Certificates require a pass in Class 10.

Medium of Instruction
Urdu is the primary medium for all instructional materials and examinations, reaffirming MANUU’s commitment to the language’s promotion. However, subjects like Arabic, English, Hindi, and Persian will use their respective languages for instruction and assessment.
