Indonesia is set to make history by hosting the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta’s Senayan from 19th to 25th October 2025. This marks the first time a Southeast Asian nation will host this prestigious global gymnastics event, signalling a major milestone for the sport’s growth in the region.
The announcement was made by Indonesian Gymnastics Federation President Ita Yuliati, who shared that a record-breaking 86 countries and territories have already confirmed participation in the 53rd edition of the championships. Traditionally attended by approximately 70 nations, this upcoming edition will see unprecedented international engagement, reinforcing Indonesia’s rising stature on the world sporting stage.
More than 600 elite athletes are expected to compete across a wide range of men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics disciplines. Events will include floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar for men, along with vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor for women. The competition will attract not only world champions and Olympic medalists, but also emerging talents from around the globe.
The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, established in 1903 for men and in 1934 for women, is one of the oldest and most prestigious events in international gymnastics.
