The scheme is implemented as part of the National Social Assistance Program (NSAP) of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. It is a non-contributory scheme and provides a monthly income for citizens or to refugees above 60 years, who have no other source of income.

The Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAP) is a non-contributory old age pension schemes that covers Indians who are 60 years and above and live below the poverty line.

All citizens above the age of 60 who live below the poverty level are eligible to apply for IGNOAPS. All INGNOAPS beneficiaries aged 60-79 receive a monthly pension of Rs 300/-(Rs 200 by central government and Rs100/ by state government).

Citizens who are 80 years and above gets a monthly pension amount of Rs-500/.States have strongly recommended to provide an additional amount at least an equivalent amount to the assistance provided by the central government so that the beneficiaries can get a decent level of assistance.

Eligibility

  • Age : 60 years and above
  • Should be Below Poverty Line (BPL).

Benefits

Depending upon the state share of the pension,a monthly pension of Rs 600 – Rs 1000.

How to Apply ?

Applicant must follow the following steps to apply to the IGNOAP Scheme.

To apply to this scheme, the applicants in the rural area must visit the Block Development Office and should visit the District Social Welfare Officer to apply for the IGNOAP scheme in the urban area.

Citizens can visit Social Welfare Department in their respected areas and get the application form. While filling the form appropriate details should be provided. The form contains the following fields

  • State/District/Block
  • Name of the village panchayat
  • Society name
  • Beneficiary name
  • Heir’s name
  • House number
  • Gender
  • Age in years
  • Date of birth
  • Birth certificate
  • Annual income and certificate /BPL card
  • Domicile certificate
  • Certificate issuance date
  • EPIC Number

Some of the mandatory documents include BPL card, photo, Aadhaar Number, Bank Pass Book, Age proof certificate. The duly filled form must be attached with the supporting documents and submitted to the social welfare officer. The application will be thoroughly scrutinized and verified by the social welfare officer.

The Social Welfare Department will then recommend the beneficiaries to the district social welfare officer. If the verification process is complete and the form is sanctioned by the district social welfare officer, the final sanction would be done by District Level Sanctioning Committee.

Note: Different states follow different procedures and official websites for applying online.

In rural areas, citizens can apply by visiting Social Welfare Department and in urban area citizens can apply by visiting District Social Welfare Officer.

  • Step 1: Application form can be collected from Social Welfare Department in the concerned area.
  • Step 2: All information in the Application form should be filled.
  • Step 3: Submit the application form along with all documents to the concerned Tehsil Social Welfare Officers. An applicant from urban area can directly submit the application to concern District Social Welfare Officer.
  • Step 4: Application will be verified by officers.
  • Step 5: Social Welfare department will recommend the beneficiaries to District Social Welfare Officer.
  • Step 6: The final sanction will be made by District Level Sanctioning Committee (DLSC).

Applicants can track their application by simply visiting NASP official website.

  • Step 1: Visit the home page of NASP.
  • Step 2: In the main page Click on More reports..
  • Step 3: Go to next pageand Select the Application Track option.
  • Step 4: Enter your application number and click on search.

Mode of Payment of Pension Amount

As per the information furnished by Applicant the old age pension amount will be credited to the beneficiary bank account or post office account.

Old Age Pension Payment Details Online

To find pension payment details online, select Pension Payment Details from NASP web page.

You can get details by entering sanction order number or application number or by providing mobile number and applicant name.

If you are selecting name option, then you have to select corresponding state and district from the drop down menu.

How to Check Old Age Pension Scheme Beneficiaries List

To check the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme Beneficiaries List, follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Step 1: In the NASP web portal, select Beneficiary search option from the menu given.
  • Step 2: Select your State District Municipality, Grama Panchayat or Ward from the drop down menu.
