Indian Institute of Creative Technologies to Begin AVGC‑XR Course Admissions in August 2025

The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) will kick off applications for its inaugural batch of AVGC‑XR programmes starting August 2025, marking a major milestone in developing India’s creative‑technology workforce. The announcement follows the institute’s introduction at the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) earlier this year by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Robust, Industry-Aligned Curriculum

IICT is offering a total of 18 specialised courses across Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC‑XR). This includes six Gaming programmes, four in Post‑Production, and eight in Animation, Comics & XR

 These have been meticulously developed in partnership with leading industry players such as Google & YouTube, Adobe, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and JioStar. Their involvement spans curriculum design, internships, scholarships, incubation support, and placement opportunities

Global Collaboration

To strengthen its international footprint, IICT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of York, UK, paving the way for faculty exchanges, joint academic programmes, and globally‑recognised certifications. This collaboration promises to enhance the institute’s educational rigor and international relevance.

Infrastructure & Launch Details

As a premier creative-technology centre, IICT will host its operations from a temporary campus at NFDC, Pedder Road, Mumbai, before transitioning to a permanent 10‑acre site at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Film City), Goregaon, Mumbai. The setup features immersive studios, animation and gaming labs, virtual production suites, editing and sound booths, and smart classrooms—designed to foster hands-on, industry-relevant training
