India to Host Shooting World Cup in 2027 and Junior Worlds in 2028

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has announced that India will play host to several prestigious international shooting competitions over the next few years. The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has awarded India the hosting rights for the Shooting World Cup in 2027 and the World Junior Championship in 2028, placing the country at the center of global shooting sports.

This is a significant achievement for Indian shooting, reflecting the nation’s rising prominence in the sport on the global stage. The announcement has been met with enthusiasm by Indian shooters and sporting authorities alike, as these events will provide world-class exposure to both established and emerging athletes.

Before these landmark events, India is set to organize a series of key tournaments. In September 2025, the country will host the Junior World Cup, offering young marksmen and markswomen a platform to showcase their talent and gain experience in international competition. This event will serve as a precursor to the 2028 World Junior Championship and will help identify promising future stars.

In February 2026, India will further bolster its standing in the sport by hosting the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship, a major event in the continental shooting calendar. The championship will draw top shooters from across Asia, further strengthening regional ties and competitiveness in the sport.

Adding to the excitement, the NRAI has also announced the launch of the Shooting League of India, scheduled for November 2025 in Delhi. This will be the country’s first professional shooting league, modeled on similar leagues in cricket and other sports. The league aims to popularize shooting among the Indian masses, offer career opportunities for athletes, and provide a new revenue stream for the sport.

India’s extensive hosting schedule is aligned with the country’s growing reputation in shooting, bolstered by consistent international performances and grassroots development. With these upcoming events, India is poised to become a global hub for shooting sports, offering a mix of high-level competition, youth development, and commercial innovation.
